Things Happen Here is a taproom, venue and record label, with a second taproom, CLASH, owned by three dedicated beer and music enthusiasts who work closely with our staff to make good things happen.
We aim to provide a safe and inclusive space for people to come and enjoy the best things in life and our drinks selection and events programme is vast and varied. We are proud to support artists and businesses locally and further afield.
We are committed to providing local jobs, supporting the creative industry, sourcing great beers and ensuring our community thrives.
We aren’t linked to any brewery, pub co, Dartington Estate or mystery conglomerate. We are a 100% independent, locally owned and funded business and proud of it.

Things Happen Here is based inside Meadowbrook Community Centre in Dartington Village nearby Dartington Primary School.
CLASH is directly across the road from Things Happen Here in the Dartington Cider Press Centre. Find CLASH in the centres second car park.
Both venues are a 25 minute walk/10 minute cycle ride from Totnes on the Totnes – Dartington cycle path. The path can be easily accessed from Totnes train station.
The X80 Gold bus stops in Dartington Village. Check bus times here.
Marathon Cabs (07799111231), DW Cabs (07396757738-quote discount code THH10) and Merlin’s Taxi (07455951185) offer a 10% discount to people travelling from Things Happen Here – plenty of other taxi companies exist but if planning to use a taxi you should book in advance.
There is a large public car park a minute away from Things Happen Here, directly opposite Dartington Primary School.
There is lots of parking available at the Cider Press in the centres various car parks for CLASH including directly outside the venue. Parking is free from 6pm with two hours free parking available before 6.
Both venues have disabled toilet facilities, lots of outside space and seating and a large inside area but please note the bar at Things Happen Here is only accessible via two steps.
We can offer carer spaces at Things Happen Here promoted events. These places must be booked in advance of the event and are subject to the event not being sold out/at capacity at the time the carer space is requested.
To discuss carer spaces at third party promoted events please contact the promoter of the event in question. Tickets for these events are the promoters responsibility.
Both Things Happen Here and CLASH are adult spaces serving alcohol – children should be well behaved and supervised at all times.
Things Happen Here is family friendly but it is a condition of our license that from 7.30pm onwards no under 18s are allowed.
Our licence allows for ages 16 plus accompanied by an adult to attend live music events. The majority of our evening events are 18 plus. At suitable events where ages 16 plus accompanied by an adult are allowed, this will be noted on the specific event info on our What’s On page.
It is also a condition of our license that no unaccompanied under 14s are allowed inside the taproom and we follow a challenge 25 policy.
Both of our taprooms are inclusive spaces. Racism, homophobia, hate speech. spiking, drugs and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. We are 100% anti arsehole.
Please don’t litter. Help us keep inside and outside clean by clearing up after yourselves.
Consider our neighbours and ourselves by keeping noise and disturbance to a minimum when leaving the building.
Respect each other and our team and have a great time.
Both of our taprooms serve a range of craft beers sourced exclusivly from independent breweries plus wine, spirits and non alcoholic drinks. At CLASH we also serve great cocktails and have a currated choice of no and low drinks available. Ask us for recomendations – we will be glad to help.
Food is reguarly available at both venues including award winning vegan food from The Big Kebabski alongside a currated selection of delicious street food from some of our favourite vendors at CLASH. Pizza is available at Things Happen Here Wednesday-Saturday. Check our socials for info on what’s available and when.
At most ticketed events we can continue to admit you to sit in and enjoy a drink.
We will though be unable to serve non ticket holders when an event is either sold out, particularly busy or an artist or promoter has requested this.
On these occasions, non ticket holders will be asked to either buy a ticket to stay inside or move outside to finish drinks 30 minutes prior to an event starting.

Unless specified otherwise at an artists or our request, photography and filming is permitted. If you are asked to stop by a member of staff, please follow our guidance. If you are asked to stop by a fellow customer, please respect their choice. If sharing on social media, please tag Things Happen Here.
If you have lost something at either Things Happen Here or CLASH please ring 01803 302881 and we will look for it. We keep lost property until our collection becomes too large at which point we dispose of it or send it to the local clothes bank. Once it’s gone it’s gone!

Both Things Happen Here and CLASH have plenty of outside tables to sit and enjoy a drink and at Things Happen Here there is a large play park and grass open space right outside the front door.
There is also a snooker room with a full size table above Things Happen Here which can be booked here and The Somewhere Sauna mobile wood fired sauna is next door.
CLASH is based in The Cider Press Centre which has lots of cool independent businesses to visit. Get your hair cut at The Shed Hair Company , grab a coffee at The Design Cafe or get arty and crafty at Orchard Carving, Go Deer or The Cider Press Gallery.
The Cider Press Centre is situated within Dartington Estate, a large estate with beautiful gardens, the Barn Cinema, The Green Table Cafe and lots more to see and do is only 15 minutes walk away from CLASH and there are walking and cycle paths to Totnes, Staverton and beyond which are easily accessible from our taprooms.
There are two local shops in Dartington village serving food as well as Lunas Bakery, a garage to refuel which also serves Indian food, a bus stop for local travel including to and from Totnes, a kids pump track, 5 a side football pitch and plenty of green space all a few minutes walk from our taprooms.
There are a number of accomodation options available in the area if you want to visit us and stay over including a beautiful campsite on the Dartington Estate a mere 10 minutes walk from our taprooms.

The Curator is a lovely cafe which serves great food and coffee. The Bull Inn is a restaurant and pub serving organic beers and food. Totnes Cinema offers an eclectic selection of films and events. Copperhead Ales has a small taproom to enjoy beers brewed on the premises. The Barrel House is a live venue attached to The Totnes Brewing Co. Kommune is a small coffee shop which is also home to The Black Bird Collective pop up record shop. The Tamarind Tree serves Indian street food while Rosso is a quirky wine bar.
There are also plenty of other cool things slightly further afield incuding Five Walls Hop House, Tams Kitchen, Rafikis, Ashburton Arts Centre, Field System, Ivybridge Brewing Co, The Tally Ho, SPS Records, Phoenix Sounds, Moor Imagination Collective and Maltings Taphouse.
Dogs are the owners responsibility at all times. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a lead inside our taprooms. Please also consider keeping dogs on a lead outside. Dogs are not allowed inside at any evening events.
Yes! We have a great selection of all of your favourite drinks available including wine, spirits, soft drinks and kombucha. At CLASH we alse serve a range of cocktails and no and low drinks.
Please see the individual listing on our What’s On page for ticket info. Tickets for most events are available to buy both online and from the taproom.
We do not get involved with ticket returns or swaps. Refunds are only available if an event is cancelled or postponed.
Depending on what events we have on, we can book tables. To book a table or request info please ring on 01803 302881.
We take no responsibility for your disappointment/travel costs/thirst if you have travelled to visit us only to find you can’t get into the taproom as an event is particularly busy, has sold out or something has unexpectedly changed.
If planning a special visit we strongly recommend you check what events we have on, ring us for info or check our socials. Sometimes events get postponed or things change that are outside of our control. When we can, we try to let people know what’s going on via our socials – please check them!
At Things Happen Here cloakroom facilities are available at select events. There is no cloakroom at CLASH.
